Preston’s ANGELS

Service Dogs

About Preston’s Angels

Through “Preston’s Angels” our goal is to provide task-trained service dogs to women and children, particularly those who have been victims of trauma or suffer from disabilities not commonly served by other service dog programs. We will select, raise, and train dogs in conjunction with our recipients through a combination of board & train foundation with certified professional dog trainers, weekend training seminars, and life-long maintenance training support.

According to the National Service Animal Registry, the average cost of a service dog is around $15,000 to $30,000, but may cost upwards of $50,000 depending on their specific tasks and responsibilities. Many women and children who have been victims of trauma or have disabilities that do not qualify them for a service dog through any other service dog organizations cannot offer these exorbitant fees associated with a service dog. In addition, many types of disabilities are often invisible and not recognized by other service dog organizations.

The Preston’s Planet Foundation, Inc. selects, raises, and trains advanced skills to support the physical and psychological needs of deserving children and their families, including those who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or an invisible disability.  The service dogs will be task-trained to assist their person and perform various complex behaviors to make the individual’s life easier.  Advanced skills may include blocking, deep pressure therapy, and retrieving objects such as medication or a cell phone in an emergency.

We will thoughtfully select puppies from our extensive rescue network and reputable breeders to be trained as potential service dogs. To prepare for their hopeful future jobs, our puppy prospects will be raised by certified professional dog trainers in loving homes. We will match puppies to their prospective future person while they are still young (6-10 months) to help begin the bonding process. Dogs who continue to do well with their task training will divide their time between their trainer and future person's home.

In partnership with animal rescue organizations, we will often foster litters of puppies to decrease the time-consuming burden of caring for bottle feeders, allowing animal rescues to focus on older dogs' placement while setting up the rescued puppies for success, regardless of whether they end up a service dog prospect or placed in a loving pet home.

Preston’s Planet aims to:

  • reduce the homeless dog population

  • find nurturing forever homes for rescued dogs

  • help exceptional dogs reach their potential through training and guidance to support humans in need.

As we launch our Preston’s Angels Program, we are focused on training and placing service dogs for psychiatric disabilities, developmental disabilities, and limited-mobility support.

Our focus is residents of Los Angeles, CA, or California residents who can easily travel to Southern CA.

If you are in need of a dog trained for hearing alert, diabetic alert, seizure alert, autism or guiding the visually impaired, we recommend you search Assistance Dogs International for a service dog organization who can better serve your needs.

All dogs will be trained with positive, rewards-based methods that focus on meeting dogs’ physical and emotional needs. When dogs do not have the personality to serve as working dogs, they will be respectfully released from our program, and matched with a better-suited, loving and forever pet home.

I have found that when you are deeply troubled,
there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.”
